...with you!
ok this isn't a blog about the anastasia soundtrack.
though, i should probably write about that sometime, considering that i used to blast it on repeat during my angsty-preteen-frequently-lovestruck days.
oh hey dimitri hey...
this blog is actually about that time i signed up for violin lessons.
...aka yesterday
you guys,
i played for 8 years back in the day.
then i stopped playing in high school.
and i think about it occasionally and miss it.
buried talent, ya know?
so yesterday,
when i was driving home from work and i passed the exit that would lead to my favorite local music store,
i spontaneously pulled into the exit lane,
went to the music store,
ignored the good looking fella in the guitar section,
and walked straight upstairs to sign up for violin lessons.
ok so i went back to the guitar section later.
this maybe was but probably wasn't him:
the point is,
i will now be going to violin lessons once a week.
my teacher's name is marie.
she has a czech accent.
i love her already.
everything about this just tickles my little soul!
and this maybe will or maybe won't be what i'll look like:
any other buried talents out there?
something you wish you had never quit?
or wish you'd started in the first place?
you know i'd totally be a figure skater if i could go back.
kristi yamaguchi for the win,
katilda
p.s.
i totally spelled kristi yamaguchi right on my first try.
someone get this girl a prize.
Remember how most of my life I was convinced that I would be a zookeeper? And the other parts of my life I decided to be a little more realistic, but kept that desire buried deep somewhere? Well... lets just say that volunteering along with the 14 year olds at the Idaho falls zoo may very well be part of the next couple years. Maybe. And that may give me enough experience to be involved with the Phoenix zoo one day. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I hope your lessons are spectacular. Anf hopefully she doesn't make you put smiley face stickers on your fingerboard.
i will NOT put defile my fingerboard with stickers! (unless they are dinosaurs)

Duuuude. I look violin once. So not for 8 years. I promise you're way better than me. I bet I could still rock some serious twinkle twinkle though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Kristi Yamaguchi is my childhood idol. Also, I can do a single axle on ice. (Like a triple axle, but a lot less cool.) Still, the moral is, that's still what I want to be when I grow up. Also, I wish I'd never quit tap dancing.
Good for you!! That really is awesome. My husband desperately wants to be able to play the piano but feels his chance has passed. I'm going to be telling him about you, maybe he'll be inspired to start his own lessons!
ReplyDeleteI say go for it! I think it's silly that we think we should picked our life passions by age 10 and be good at them before we're 30 or that's it! We have a whole lifetime. I might just figure skate.
DeleteI second that "good for you!" And thank you for reminding me of the glory that is the Anastasia soundtrack. Ohh, iTunes...!
ReplyDeleteI'm hidden talent is my undying love for Dimitri. He's my favorite Disney prince. Even though he's homeless practically the whole movie. It's fine. He's a prince in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteahahah I love that you said he's your hidden talent. I maybe chortled a little.
DeleteI adore this. I love that you do things like spontaneously sign up for violin lessons. You are a neat girl, Katie E. Hope your lessons are awesome.
ReplyDeletePS you should def have glamour shots taken of you with your violin.
