Food for thought....
From "Grounded, Rooted, Established, and Settled" by Elder Maxwell in1981 at a BYU devo...
"A very significant part of getting settled in one's discipleship consists of coming to terms with the realities around us that seem so routine. Routine, like trials, can bring us closer to God or move us away from Him. What seems commonplace seldom is."
"If our soul is to be stretched, how can that occur without growing pains?"
"What appears on the surface can be a thin cover for development of great spiritual significance."
"A hundred years from now, today's seeming deprivations and tribulations will not matter then unless we let them matter too much now."
And he included a quote by C.S. Lewis....
"If men had postponed the search for knowledge and beauty until they were secure, the search would never have begun...Life has never been 'normal'...Humanity...wanted knowledge and beauty now, and would not wait for the suitable moment that never comes."
Um, please just go read the whole talk. And read his other talk, "Patience," while you're at it. Then ask me for more :) You can find 'em at speeches.byu.edu and download the PDF (or the MP3 if that suits your fancy) for FREE.
It's a treasure trove, my friends.
My oh my how i love it.
I also love...
THIS PAINTING.Is.So.Beautiful.
"Christ Walking on Water" by Julius Sergius von Klever
They're selling a big framed copy of it in the BYU Bookstore, and sometimes I go look at it and pretend I have 500 dollars to buy it for my living room. Someday, someday...

Mmmm. Once again, you have spoken to my needs for today. Those quotes and that painting will lull me into a peaceful slumber instead of the tearful, frustrated one I might have had.
Well, those quotes, that painting, a bunch of herbs and some advil. :) The later speaks to my head and body aches, chills, strep throat (maybe?) and double ear infections. Your stuff speaks to my emotional and mental upset at all of the above plus the usual things we find in everyday life to be emotional and...mental?...about.
Your thoughts are MY treasure trove.
I think I just made it sound like I am trying to court you or something.
Nothing strange, just a normal amount of sisterly admiration and gratitude, thank you.
Have a great night!
You will own that painting someday.

I like the quote about 100 years from now. I would contend, however, that I have never needed for than 2 years to recover from even my hardest trials. Seriously. Try to think back starting from 2 years. It just does not matter any more.
Thanks for the post. :)
You can buy this picture at Gift of Grace Christain Supply in Springville for only $299. during the rest of the month of June. It's big and beautifully framed. Call me (Connie) at 801-489-4321
